Context: Wetlands, including urban lakes, cover nearly 6% of the Earth's surface and are among the most productive ecosystems, supporting carbon sequestration, biodiversity, climate regulation and human well-being.

Why Urban Lakes are Disappearing

●Legal protection of lakebeds and Full Tank Level (FTL) zones is essential to prevent construction in areas required for natural water storage and drainage.
